May 31, 2024 - Today marks Lee Shaiman’s official final day of working and the first day of his retirement.  The LSTA would like to congratulate Lee on moving into the next stage of his life.  Lee has been a fixture in the fixed income community for more than 4 decades and a stalwart leader of the LSTA for more than 6 years.  During his tenure, Lee led the organization and the market through some of the most challenging times and existential threats in recent memory, including the global pandemic, Kirschner, LIBOR/SOFR transition, CLO risk retention and the Volcker rule, to name a few.  What Lee accomplished in 6+ years at the LSTA, few of us could hope to accomplish in a lifetime. 

What you have not necessarily seen is how Lee went about achieving these goals.  He nurtured a talented team of dedicated professionals at the LSTA and brought out the best from a diverse group of personalities.  He was able to build market consensus around many challenging market topics.  Lee was a stern believer in what we do is driven by how we work cooperatively with the market to achieve goals that better the market.  Lee, we as an organization, as an industry and as friends, owe you a debt of gratitude for your dedicated commitment and service to market the corporate lending market a better place.  While we will all certainly miss you and are sad to see you go, we are happy for you as you begin the next phase in your life.  We hope that you will look back on your time at the LSTA, as well as the rest of your career, with a fondness and satisfaction that you have accomplished so much, that you have done it in the best way possible and that you have left a lasting impression on all of us.
